![]() Please bear in mind that traffic in Kingston is often congested and even short trips can take much longer than expected. Travelling to Latchmere School from outside KingstonBy carFrom central London: From Wimbledon: From New Malden: From Surbiton: From Hampton Court: From Richmond: By TrainIf travelling from Waterloo, take the Shepperton or Strawberry Hill service which runs at 15 minute intervals during the day to Kingston or Norbiton. The journey takes about half an hour. Kingston and Norbiton stations are both just under a mile from the school. The easiest way to reach the school is to alight at Norbiton station, leave the station through the ticket hall at the front, cross the road and either take Manorgate Road or use the quicker pedestrian alleyway that passes under the railway bridge on the right. This brings you out virtually on the roundabout at the bottom of Kingston Hill. Cross over the roundabout and take Park Road, which starts with a parade of shops. Either take the 371 bus (see below) from the bus stop by these shops or walk down Park Road (about 15 mins to the school) following the directions above for cars from London at *. From Kingston station the bus stops are obvious and the services clearly marked. For a fifteen-minute walk, turn left out of the main entrance and pass under the railway bridge into Richmond Road. Walk past the Grey Horse and along this main road for ten minutes, when you will reach Latchmere Road, the eleventh turning on your right just after the Shell petrol station. Locate Kingston railway station and follow the directions given directly above. By BusAll bus stops in central Kingston have maps showing details of areas served and where to board each bus. The main bus station in Cromwell Road is adjacent to the railway station. The 371 bus plies between Richmond and Kingston every 8 minutes during the day and gets closest to the school. The trip from central Kingston takes about 10 minutes, traffic permitting. and takes the bus past the roundabout at the bottom of Kingston Hill and along Park Road, so you can follow the directions given for cars taking this route at * above. The nearest bus stop to the school (about 100 metres) is called 'Latchmere Road' and is at the junction of Latchmere Road with Park Road. After the 'road tables' and mini roundabout, look out for a large recreation ground behind railings and trees on the left - ring the bell as you pass this and the bus stop comes up soon after. From Richmond direction, after passing through Ham the bus will take you along Tudor Drive (known locally as 'Mock' Tudor Drive, for reasons that will be obvious). Watch out for the Cardinal pub and small library on the right, shortly afterwards the road forks right, becomes Park Road and it is time to alight. The bus stop is just past the junction on the right with Latchmere Road and is called 'Kelvedon Close'. Walk along Latchmere Road and the school is a short way down on your left. The 65 bus (every 8-10 minutes) travels between Kingston and Ealing - if you follow the directions from Richmond for cars above, the stop called 'Latchmere Road' is just after Fernhill school. From Kingston, follow the directions for cars from Surbiton and alight at the stop called 'Woodside Road' opposite the Shell petrol station. The 57 bus travels frequently from Clapham Park to Kingston via Wimbledon and Raynes Park. It passes Kingston Hospital and the roundabout at the bottom of Kingston Hill mentioned above. The 131 service runs regularly between Tooting Broadway and Kingston, passing through Wimbledon and New Malden. Follow the directions from Kingston town centre given above. By TaxiBlack cabs are easy to hail on the street or find at ranks, but are expensive. Local minicabs have minimum charges which also make short trips poor value. Either way, from Kingston centre or stations to the school, the fare will be well over five pounds. By BicycleFollow the directions for cars and please remember you are a danger to children, yourself and others if you illegally ride on the pavement. You may also be fined £50. By TubeRichmond and Wimbledon are the only feasible tube stations. From Richmond, take the 371 or 65 bus as above from right outside the station. From Wimbledon take the train to Norbiton, or catch the 57 or the 131 bus near the station to Kingston or Norbiton and follow the directions above.
