Role of governors
Governors are the largest volunteer force in the county and have an
important part to play in raising school standards through their three
key roles of setting strategic direction, ensuring accountability and
monitoring and evaluating school performance.
We have an active and enthusiastic governing body. There are currently
17 governors and these are made up of elected representatives from parents
and staff, local authority and community representatives. The work of
the governing body is very varied and we are fortunate to have a vast
range of experience within our team. The governors try to ensure they
visit the school and participate in school events as frequently as possible.
This enables governors to gain a fuller understanding of how the school
works and the way in which our children are educated.
Meetings
Governors meet at a full governing body meeting every half term, and
each governor sits on at least one sub committee of which there are
currently three main ones: Finance & Staffing, Curriculum, Premises
and a Communication Committee (which meets on an ad hoc basis). These
committees meet generally once or twice a term. The committees have
delegated powers, but report back to the main governing body at each
meeting.
Parents are always welcome to attend governors meetings as observers,
please contact us by email if you would like to attend a meeting.

Raising Concerns and Resolving Complaints.
From time to time parents and others connected with the school will
become aware of matters which cause them concern. To encourage resolution
of such situations the Governing Body has adopted a “General Complaints
Procedure”.
The procedure is devised with
the intention that it will:
Usually be possible to resolve problems by informal means
Be simple to use and understand
Be non-adversarial
Provide confidentiality
Allow problems to be handled swiftly
Address all the points at issue
Inform future practice so that the problem is unlikely to reoccur
Full details of the procedure may be obtained from the School Office
or from the Clerk to the Governing Body
